Panamanian Ex President Moscoso
Involved in Drug Trafficking
Panama's former President Mireya
Moscoso had links with the straw
man of a drug dealer, whose
network was dismantled last May,
Panama America daily reported on
Monday.
According to the newspaper, the
names of Moscoso and Supreme
Court judge Alberto Cigarruista,
among others, are mentioned in
the investigations that are
being carried out by Panama's
First Anti-Drug Prosecutor on
the Ray Case.
Panama America reveals that ex
National Police director Eduardo
Herrera said in an affidavit
that Colombian Alberto Torres,
accused of being the straw man
of Pablo Rayo Montaño, used to
boast about being friend of
those Panamanian officials.
Investigations reveal that 94
bank accounts of Rayo Montaño
cartel, with a value of about
730,000 US dollars, were
confiscated in 14 banks.
The First Anti-Drug Prosecutor
also investigates 60 public
corporations linked to that drug
tracking cartel, dismantled in
the multinational operation
"Twin Oceans."
Rayo Montaño, who is in prison
in Brazil, and another 30
members of his network are
accused of drug trafficking and
money laundering in South
Florida.
