Venezuelan Fuel to El Salvador
Salvadoran mayor offices ruled
by the National Liberation
Farabundo Marti Front (FMLN) are
still on the steps to import
fuel from Venezuela, at
competitive prices and benefit
the Salvadoran people this way.
Carlos Ruiz, president of the
Inter Municipal Association
Energia para El Salvador (ENEPASA),
the intention is to implement
the Project as soon as possible,
perhaps at the end of 2006.
Ruiz, also Mayor of Soyapango,
said the joint venture will
import, store, sell and
distribute fuel in the local
market.
He said that guarantees from
commercializing firms and
distributors are still on steps.
FMLN started procedures before
the Salvadoran Direction of
Mining and Hydrocarbons of the
Ministry of Economy, three
months after signing an
agreement with Petrocaribe, a
branch of Venezuelan state oil
company Petroleos de Venezuela (PVDSA).
Ruiz said that the results of
the agreement will be soon seen,
though the Salvadoran government
has doubts regarding this
matter.
The place where the fuel coming
from Venezuela will be stored is
still unknown.
Petrocaribe should supply nearly
198,000 barrels of crude oil a
day, and by-products, to be paid
with goods and two years of
grace, and financing 40 percent
of the oil bill, if the b
