U.S. Hyatt To Build Hotel in Costa Rica
U.S. hotel chain Hyatt plans to
build a hotel in Costa Rica. The company has still not chosen the
location of the hotel but it could be in the northwestern Guanacaste
province or in the capital San José, Hyatt's representative in Costa
Rica, Hector Lee, said.
The investments in the new hotel might top us$50 million and the
construction is expected to be finished in a two or three-year period,
Lee added.
Hyatt wants to benefit of the increasing number of tourists to Costa
Rica.
Building a hotel in Costa Rica is part of Hyatt's strategy to increase
the number of its hotels. Previously, the company focused on increasing
the quality of services, instead of the number of hotels, but now the
strategy combines both high quality and high number of hotels.
Canadian hotel chain Four Seasons started operations in Costa Rica late
last year on the Gulf of Papagayo, in Guanacaste, on Costa Rica's
Pacific coast, with investments of us$120 million.
Spanish hotel chains Sol Meliá, Barcélo Hotels and Resorts and
Occidental Hoteles also run multiple hotel operations in Costa Rica.
