Some 3.000 Nicaraguans Refused Entry
According to Costa Rican
immigration authorities, 3.400 Nicaraguans were intercepted by the
Policía de Migración and the Fuerza Pública in the last few days as they
tried to enter Costa Rican territory illegally.
According to the report, the capture of the illegals occurred in the
northern border control posts at Peñas Blancas and Los Chiles in the
last few days of Semana Santa.
Immigration also reports that 10.200 persons entered Costa Rican legally
at the northern control points during the last few days, an increase of
almost 6% over the same period last year.
As far as those leaving Costa Rica through the same control posts,
slightly over 10.000 departures were registered, a reduction of 26% over
2004.
