Why the rain? It's not the rainy season
yet? were some of the questions being asked yesterday by many when San
José awakened with cloudy skies, drizzle and closed with a down pour in
the downtown area in the late afternoon.

Some 7.000 people got up earlier
than usual, some decided to miss work, in a chance to obtain their
cellular service following the announcement published in the local
newspapers last week.

Pharmacy Donates Food to the Needy
The Mexican pharmacy chain, Farmacias Similares who opened their doors
in Costa Rica for the first time just a couple of months ago are giving
away food to the needy who visit their pharmacy located on Paséo
Colon.
Some 3.000 Nicaraguans Refused Entry
According to Costa Rican
immigration authorities, 3.400 Nicaraguans were intercepted by the
Policía de Migración and the Fuerza Pública in the last few days as they
tried to enter Costa Rican territory illegally.
School To Be Sold at Auction For Non Payment of
Debt
For the first time in the history of Costa
Rica, some 200 students may be left with a school to go to this
Wednesday if the school board doesn't pay up it's debt, as ordered by a
local court.
Second Shooting Incident Reported at La
Nación
in Less Than a Month
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ)
today called for a prompt and thorough investigation into two gunfire
attacks this month against the facilities of the daily Spanish language
newspaper La Nación in San José.
U.S. Hyatt To Build Hotel in Costa Rica
U.S. hotel chain Hyatt plans to
build a hotel in Costa Rica. The company has still not chosen the
location of the hotel but it could be in the northwestern Guanacaste
province or in the capital San José, Hyatt's representative in Costa
Rica, Hector Lee, said.
