Gasoline Station Explosion
Two explosions at the Shell
gasoline station at 8:45am, in
downtown Escazú, shocked the
neighbourhood and caused the
death of two children and severe
burns in four other persons.
An incorrect procedure
to change a filter in a
gas pump appears to be
cause of the explosion
as leaking highly
flammable gasoline from
a hose came into contact
with a spark. Two small
children, trapped in
their car, died as the
mother received severe
burns trying to get them
out. Three others
suffered burns in the
early morning explosion
