Exports Recover
Since January 2003, exports
fromCosta Rica – not
including those from the free
zone system – have steadily
recovered, going from almost no
growth to close to 13 percent a
year, according to data from the
Ministry of Foreign Commerce.
The importance of the exports
sector is that it is the one
that pays taxes in Costa Rica.
Exports from "zona francas",
which represent over of all
exports abroad, are tax exempt,
which also experienced a growth
in the total exports for 19
percent over the past 12 months
ending in August.
