Warns Customers Not To Lend Their Bank
Account
The Banco Nacional (BN) is asking its
customers not to lend their accounts to
others, even for a fee, as this practice
could land you in a judicial nightmare and
being blacklisted by the national banking
system.
The advice follows an increase of the
practice by the bank's customers, more than
40 so far this year, that in most cases is
with the consent of the account holder.
Roberto Méndez, the bank's security
director, explained that fraud artists ask
for consent to use an account to receive a
bank transfer, in exchange for fee.
The practice of "renting' a bank account
allows the transfer of funds without
questioning the origin of the funds. Méndez
explained that the practice is mainly among
the young or family members.
