San Salvador - President-elect of El
Salvador, Mauricio Funes, confirmed his trip
to Brazil, which will prevent him from
attending as guest the Central American
Summit to be held in Nicaragua on March 25.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Funes
explained that he is planning to meet with
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da
Silva in Brasilia next week.
This will be his first trip abroad after
winning presidential elections on Sunday as
a candidate of the Farabundo Marti National
Liberation Front.
Funes said he will leave for Brazil tomorrow
after expressing apologies to Salvadorean
President Antonio Saca, who invited him to
the Central American Summit.
Funes also revealed to have received a
congratulatory phone call by US President
Barack Obama, who said to be willing to
strengthen bilateral relations. |
