Haiti salvages a tie vs. Costa Rica
Alexandre Boucicaut's goal with 18 minutes remaining in the second half helped Haiti salvage its second 1-1 tie in CONCACAF Gold Cup group play Saturday night.

Earlier, Costa Rica had taken a 1-0 lead on Walter Centeno's goal in the 62nd minute. Centeno successfully converted on a shot just outside the half circle after receiving Alvaro Saborio's touch pass.

Centeno and Canada's Julian De Guzman are the Group A scoring leaders with two goals.

Boucicaut responded to Centeno's goal with a blast from 15 yards which beat Costa Rica goalkeeper Jose Francisco Porras. Frantz Gilles set up Boucicaut's goal with a crossing pass from the right wing.

Costa Rica, which needed three points to move up in the Group A standings after a 2-1 loss against Canada on Wednesday, applied repeated pressure early in the second half but were denied by diving saves from Haiti goalkeeper Gabart Fenelon.

Fenelon twice dove to stop shots from Michael Barrentos in the 51st and 52nd minutes.

Costa Rica's Rolando Fonseca had the best scoring threat of the first half, when his header near the 6-yard box hit the left post.

Haiti is third in the group following a 1-1 tie against Guadeloupe. First time tournament entrant Guadeloupe leads Group A with four points after a 2-1 victory over Canada earlier on Saturday.
