Pre-Columbian burial ground
A team
of archaeologists from the National Museum found
a 1,200 year old Indian burial ground in a ranch
near Nicoya, in the western province of
Guanacaste.
More than 80 pieces of pottery, stone axes, and
human bones are part of what has been unearthed
so far, according to team leader Wilson Valerio.
Among the most striking findings, Valerio
pointed out three pieces that represent pregnant
women in detail. He also said that they have
found an unusual amount of remains of bonfires
in the burial ground.
