Man And Donkey Walk The Americas
A year ago, John Dunham, decided to take a walk through the Americas.

With a bible in hand and backpack, 32 year old Dunham made it across the United States to the house of friends in Mexico three months later.

"When my friends saw how big my backpack was they gave me a donkey as a gift", said Dunham to Freddy Parrales, a correspondent for La Nación.

"When they gave me the donkey, I named it Judas. Together we have walked thousands of kilometres", said Dunham.

Dunham made it to Costa Rica about two months ago and yesterday was interviewed while he waited at the Migración en Paso Canoas, waiting on his visa to enter Panama.

The trip between Peñas Blanacas, the border point with Nicaragua, and Paso Canoas, the border with Panama, is 660 kilometres alone.

Dunham said he thanks God and walks more "to think, reflect and meditate" and when he stops for a break reads the bible.

Dunham says he usually walks between 5:00am and 9:00am, takes a break and then resumes at 3:00pm to 5:00pm. At night he looks for a safe and secure place, near school, church or police station.

"The Ticos have treated me well and took advantage of visiting several beautiful beaches", said Dunham, as he related his experiences in Costa Rica, a country he found to have people with "good customs and lots of friendliness".

Dunham hopes to end his walk in South America.
