Iran, Venezuela Start Energy
Project
Iranian President Mahmud
Ahmadineyad attended the
beginning of the perforation of
an oil well Monday in the
Venezuelan Strip of the Orinoco
River for the certification of
reserves of that important
region.
Teheran´s head of state,
accompanied by President Hugo
Chavez, witnessed the beginning
of works in a field in
Anzoategui State that counts on
the participation of the
Petropars Ltd Iranian Company.
Their agreement is part of the
government´s Sowing Oil plan and
is centered in the Ayacucho
Siete Block, with an extension
of some 210 square miles and
reserves estimated at 1.5
billion barrels.
The Orinoco Oil Strip is
considered the largest reserve
of liquid hydrocarbons in the
world extending 34,370 miles and
also made up by the zones of
Boyaca, Junin and Carabobo.
Thus, Petropars joins
enterprises like Ancap
(Uruguay), Enarsa (Argentina),
Gazprom (Russia), Repsol
(Spain), Petrobras (Brazil),
CNPC (China), ONGC (India) and
Belorusneft (Belarus).
