Cheaper Gasoline Tomorrow
Unless you really need to, don't
fill up today, as gasoline
prices drop tomorrow.
The
Autoridad Reguladora de los
Servicios Públicos (Aresep)
approved the price drop last
Friday in record time and the
approval was published today in
the official government
publication, La Gaceta.
The publication means that
prices will change at the pumps
at the stroke of midnight
tonight.
The reduction
is for ¢32 colones a
litre, for both super and
regular.
Normally, the Aresep takes up to
15 days to approve a request for
any changes to prices of public
services and then
another five working days are
required for
publication in La Gaceta.
However, that gasoline prices
are a major consumer good, the government regulator
has acted quickly
A litre of super
gasoline will drop from the
current price of ¢580 to ¢547
and regular will drop from the
current ¢553 to ¢520. Diesel
fuel prices are not affected in
the request and will hold at
¢383 colones per litre.
What the price change means in
real terms, is a savings of
¢1.440 colones (us$2.78) to fill
a 45 litre tank of gasoline.
