Panama Condemns US-Cuba Blockade
The President of the Committee
of Solidarity with Cuba of
Colon, Panama, Cesar Quijano,
condemned the US blockade of
Cuba and called for an end to US
aggressive policies.
The university professor noted
the importance of standing by
Cuba against Washington's
threats and plans to invade the
Island and recalled that they
invaded and occupied Panama in
1989.
The activist said the committee
is made up of professors,
students and workers
organizations from Colon
Province and termed important
the November 17-19 National
Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.
Havana has denounced that the
over four-decade blockade has
caused losses worth 86,000
million dollars.
Cuba will submit November 8 a
draft resolution against the US
blockade to the 61st UN General
Assembly.
The first such initiative was
approved in 1992 by 59 countries
and support climbed since to
record 182 votes in 2005.
