Honduras-Mexico Agree on Sea
Border
The Honduras Legislature
approved an agreement to define
the maritime demarcation between
this Central American nation and
Mexico on Thursday, a
congressional text confirmed.
According to the document, the
agreement was previously signed
on April 2005 by Chancellors
Luis Ernesto Derbez (Mexico) and
Leonidas Rosa (Honduras).
Unanimously ratified by the 128
deputies of five political
parties, the decision coincides
with Honduran President Manuel
Zelaya s official visit to
Mexico, where he hopes to
exchange on the treaty with
President Vicente Fox.
The government plans to mark its
frontiers in the Caribbean Sea
with other nations as well,
among them Jamaica, Grand
Cayman, Guatemala, Belize and
Nicaragua.
