Panama Patients Appreciate
Operation Miracle
More than 2,000 Panamanians have
been benefited from the
Operation Miracle, an agreement
through which poor Latin
American people receive free
ophthalmologic assistance in
Cuba.
Many people and entities
consider they have no words to
describe such a great and
altruistic human project.
Patients of the 25th group
assisted in he Caribbean Island
Tuesday arrived in the
Panamanian capital and expressed
through smiles what was
definitely difficult to say with
words after so many unexpected
emotions.
Sergio Rodriguez, a seven-year
old child who underwent cataract
surgery only repeated the word
thanks as he could now go back
to school and the normal life he
had been prevented from due to
his sight problems.
Angela Quintero, resident in
western Panama said to be glad
and praised the love, affection
and professionalism provided by
the Cuban doctors and
technicians and devoted some
verses to both countries.
Non prior Panamanian president
had concerned on the people as
Martin Torrijos and his wife
Vian Fernandez has done who
together with President Fidel
Castro have made this luck comes
into fruition, she asserted.
Journalist Angel Santos, also
assisted in Cuba, said the
professionals of the Caribbean
island are "more humans than
Cubans", as he slogans read, and
appreciated both nations' joint
efforts.
Miracle Operation through which
48,000 Panamanians from poor
families or living in the abject
poverty was presented by the
first lady on November 23 2005.
