Nicaragua Fosters Geo-Thermal
Projects
Nicaragua promotes opening of
its geo-thermal potential to
international capital and
projects, to look for a way out
to the energy crisis provoked by
the high prices of oil.
Nicaraguan National Energy
Commission president Ernesto
Espinoza said that with the
projects scheduled, and going on
in the next three or four coming
years, Nicaragua will produce
around 350 megawatts.
Espinoza said Italian enterprise
ENEL constructs two plants,
which will produce 250 megawatts
in total, after he went to the
opening of an exchange workshop
on geo-thermal energy, sponsored
by Iceland.
Canadian enterprise Polaris, and
Israel's Ormat would sum up
another 70 megawatts.
Espinoza said that Iceland is
interested for Nicaragua to make
a good planning for use of the
abundant resources in Nicaragua.
