Salvadoran Little Girls in Sex Network
A great number of minor girls have been trapped into prostitution in El Salvador through deceitful offers of stable and well-paid jobs, an International Labour Organization expert confirmed in an interview published Monday.

Supporting the assertions of ILO´s Guadalupe Portillo, Edwin Recinos, in charge of repatriation of minors from the Salvadoran Institute for Child and Adolescent Development, revealed that the girls are usually taken to beauty or massage parlors or coffee shops that serve as fronts; sometimes to the US and Europe.

There they are forced to have sexual intercourse with the clients and survival becomes their only goal; a goal few of them reach, Recinos denounced.

Anabel Aguilar, psychologist of the Salvadoran institute, warned that the crisis causes victims psychological damage as they feel confused and with low self-esteem, afraid their “jobs” will be discovered.

The ILO called to prevent minors from sexual exploitation by providing sanctions on procurers, clients and intermediaries.

El Salvador´s legislation establishes a system of sanctions, but the police lack the appropriate mechanisms to start investigations, the institute asserted.
