Hundreds of Hondurans Slain in
2006
Around 444 people under 23 died
in a violent way in Honduras
from January to November 2006,
with an average of 40 per month,
Casa Alianza humanitarian
organization reported.
The last 44 murders of this kind
were reported in November, 23
percent of them against children
and young people.
The report issued by that
regional institution, dedicated
to the defense of the children s
right for almost three decades,
reported that this is a
longstanding problem in that
Central American nation.
From 1998 to November 30, 2006,
Casa Alianza denounced 3395
crimes against people in this
country.
Violen deaths of children and
adolescents is increasing, the
director of that entity in
Honduras José Manuel Capellin
reported.
