25.000 Cellular Customers Cut
Off By Mistake
The Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) confirmed
yesterday, that an error in
their system, has cut service to
25.000 GSM cellular customers
and that by last night it had
not been able to restore
service.
ICE officials say they are
working frantically to restore
the service, but did not offer
details of the exact number of
lines cut off.
The problem arose when on Monday
ICE technicians where making
adjustment to the "Ericcson" GSM
network and by mistake cut
service to more than 25.000
customers. Callers to the
affected numbers only receive a
voice recording stating that the
number is not assigned.
ICE says it hopes to have the
service restored by no later
than today.
