New Electoral Blocs in Nicaragua
Barely five days after the electoral campaign took off, Nicaragua is picking out on Wednesday the first and surprising political alliances.

According to Deputy Orlando Tardencilla, candidates Eduardo Montealegre, from the Nicaraguan Liberal Alliance (ALN) and Edmundo Jarquin, of the Sandinista Renovator Movement (MRS) are forging a pact to stagger the ruling Constitutionalist Liberal Party (PLC) led by Jose Rizo.

He opined those forces aim at announcing a big ALN-MRS-PLC coalition to counterattack the popularity of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) during the electoral race.

Previously, the Sandinista party accused US and Spanish diplomats of trying to join Montealegre and Rizo against Daniel Ortega, FSLN top leader and former president of Nicaragua.
