Venezuela Ready to Sell Oil to
Nicaragua
Venezuela reaffirmed its
decision to help the Nicaraguan
people overcome their severe
energy crisis, seen in water and
power cuts of eight hours.
Caracas Mayor Freddy Bernal
recalled in Managua that
Venezuela is ready to supply all
the fuel needed to fill the
deficit if official refusal
yields.
He recalled that the government
of President Hugo Chavez offered
payment facilities of 25 years
with just 1.0 percent interest
at 40 percent of the current
world oil price.
The Sandinista National
Liberation Front has been a key
promoter of this choice to
benefit the people, who also
suffer rising bus fares.
Dionisio Marenco, mayor of
Managua and FSLN member, added
that the program includes
cooperation for oil storage
between the domestic Alba
Petroleos company and a Mexican
joint venture.
