San José Archbishop Has Confidence in New Government To Reduce Poverty and Increase Employment
In his message for "Día del Trabajo" (Labour Day), San José archbishop, monseñor Hugo Barrantes, demonstrated his concern for the "condition of the country" and said he has confidence in the new administration to better things.

Barrantes criticized the lack of good jobs and the lack of proper training by the state institution INA for preparing students with the proper requirements to enter the job force.

"I am showing my concern, because the social gap has to revert, it cannot continue to increase", said the monseñor.

The archbishop added that the new group of ministers that will take office in a little over a week includes "very capable people". "Now, the task is to form a team and prioritize the problems of the country. I wish them the best", said monseñor Barrantes.

Barrantes reminded that, for the church, it is important that the economic development of the country is in harmony with the social development, and that there is a redistribution of richness, that it doesn't, in the end, end up in the hands of the few, like it is occurring now.

According to Barrantes income from work maintains families and that is the reason for improving the employment situation and the quality of jobs. In a economic lesson that the archbishop feels lost on politicians, he said that poverty is a consequence of when living costs are higher than income.
