Good Performance
Against AIDS
The World Health Organization
(WHO) ranks Costa Rica among the
18 top nations who offered
medical treatment to 50 percent
or more of the individuals who
need medicines to fight AIDS.
In
Latin America, only Cuba
addresses the needs of 100
percent of the cases, closely
followed by Panama, and
Barbados.
Costa Rica places
sixth, behind Venezuela, Brazil,
and Argentina.
Currently, some
2,000 individuals are supplied
with medicines against AIDS
here.
For countries such as
Costa Rica, WHO insists that
they must care for all of their
AIDS patients.
