Pregnancy Tests Banned
Public institutions and private
business can no longer ask women
to subject themselves for a
pregnancy test as a condition of
applying for work. The Costa
Rican government has delcared
the practice unconstituional and
companies that continue the
practice will be sanctioned. The
Defensoría de la Mujer has
received a number of complaints
from women about the practice.
Virgen de los Ángeles Visits
Pérez Zeledón
Hundreds of devoted accompanied
Costa Rica's patron La Virgen de
los Ángeles when he left Cartago
for the traditional visit to
Pérez Zeledón. Dozens followed
the group of taxi drivers on the
trip. The image of the Virgen
will be in Pérez Zeledón for the
rest of the month, when she will
be returned to Cartago in the
time for the yearly pilgrimage
on August 2.
