No to Regional Visa
At the closing of the Central
American integration summit,
Costa Rica did not join El
Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras,
and Nicaragua in establishing
the free traveling of their
citizens in between these
nations.
Costa Rica also
abstained from joining in three
other regional initiatives: a
Central American passport, a
regional police, and a Central
American warrant of arrest.
President Abel Pacheco explained
that joining such initiatives
would clash with the
Costa Rica's Constitution,
mainly because Costa Rica
abolished it's army in 1948,
while the other countries
continue with an armed force.
