Yesterday Was the Hottest Day of the Year
The mercury in San José yesterday reached 31.3 Celsius, making it the hottest day of the year.

The last few days have been hotter than usual. The cloud cover has been almost nil, allowing the sun's radiation to filter through the less dense upper clouds.

The Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - the weather office - reminds us to be careful of sunburns and skin cancer and other harmful effects of the sun's radiation. A good sunblock is recommended if you spend a long time in the sun. Specialists recommend the use of sunblocks not just on the beaches but in every day exposure to the sun's rays. The highest intensity period is between 10am and 4pm.
