Costa Rica Joins Worldwide March Against Colombian Rebels
Costa Ricans today will be part of the worldwide march "One Million Voices Against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC)", which is meant as a call to the rebel army to lay down its weapons and release all its hostages.

The march in Costa Rica will be held in downtown San José.

According to the newswire service ACAN-EFE, the aim is to demonstrate the repudiation of the pain and suffering caused by the FARC and to call the attention of all the people around the world to its indifference, said María Fernanda Gualdrón, Costa Rica based organizer.

Some 1.000 Colombians are others are expected to take part in the march in San José, gathering at 10:20am at the Parque de las Garantías Sociales.

Similar marches are expected in 100 cities around the world as they let their voices heard.

According to Gualdrón, the marchers in Costa Rica are expected to sing the Colombian national anthem and say a collective prayer for the hostages and for peace.

The march is to raise awareness of the more than 40 hostages whom the FARC seek to exchange for hundreds of rebels held in Colombian prisons.

Ahead of the protest, the FARC has announced that it will be releasing three hostages, held for more than six years, due to their health. The Associated Press reports that Gloria Polanco, Luis Edadio Perez and Orlando Beltran will be soon released, though no date has been announced.
