Speeding and Drinking and Driving Number One Cause of Traffic Accident Deaths
Speeding and reckless driving continue to spill blood on the streets. The latest victims are 38 year old Germán Rojas Chinchilla and 25 year old Eliecer Chévez Ledezma, who died in a traffic accident in Bario la Colina, in Limón.

According to reports by the Policía de Tránsito, the accident was so violent that the two men died at the scene, as the two vehicles were speeding.

Witnesses say it all happened fast, both vehicles were travelling at a high velocity when they collided and there was nothing that Crus Roja (Red Cross) personnel could do for the victims.

The accident left the route complete blocked for two hours while the vehicles, debris and the bodies were removed from the scene.

In an unrelated accident, in Santa Barabara de Heredia, alcohol, speeding and reckless driving combined for another traffic accident, this time fortunately there no deaths, only crumpled metal and a lot of frayed nerves.

The driver of one of the vehicles, driving under the influence of alcohol, was speeding and passing imprudently when he collided with an oncoming vehicle and swerved to hit two more vehicles.

Although the breathalyzer test results were not available, the driver of the vehicle told the television cameras, slurring his words, that he had not been drinking, maybe had had only four beers.
