Hugo Chavez to Argentina for Talks
Caracas - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
travels to Argentina Thursday to continue a
three-month talk cycle with his peer
Cristina Fernandez. He said the meeting will
foster strategic relations between both
nations.
On his weekly TV-radio program "Alo
Presidente," Chavez stated links between
Venezuela and Argentina are vital "for the
development and integration of all countries
and peoples of this continent."
Some 21 cooperation accords were inked in
January, as a result of President Fernandez'
visit to Venezuela.
Among them is the cooperation agreement on
industrial complementation in health, as
well as a memorandum of understanding for
the creation of a bi-national cooperation
fund for industrial development.
Also on the list is a letter of intention
for development of the aluminum industry,
and another understanding memorandum in the
aero-trade area.
A pact on industrial cooperation between the
Venezuelan Agricultural Corporation and the
National Industrial Technology Institute of
Argentina was also signed.
In energy both presidents inked a joint
accord for mature fields between Petroleos
de Venezuela S.A. and the National Energy
Company S.A.
Argentina and Venezuela also signed a
cooperation agreement to prevent improper
consumption and repression of illegal drug
traffic, psychotropic substances, and
precursor chemicals, as well as related
crimes.
The Argentinean stateswoman will travel to
this country in July, it was announced in
the meeting.
