Bachelet, Obama to Meet in June
Santiago de Chile - Chilean President Michelle Bachelet
is to hold talks with Barack Obama in
Washington on June 23, during Bachelet´s
upcoming official visit to the United
States. Bachelet made the announcement
yesterday in Santiago de Chile, while noting
the appointment of Chilean-born Arturo
Valenzuela as the new US undersecretary of
state for hemispheric affairs.
According to Bachelet Valenzuela�s
appointment "is in line with the will of
President Obama to continue developing a
strong and constructive relationship with
Latin America and Chile."
Answering media questions, Chilean president
added that she will surely respond to the
will of Obama to continue working jointly.
Both presidents already met at the recently
concluded Summit of the Americas in Trinidad
and Tobago.
