Delays Expected Monday With The Visit of Joe
Biden and Central American Presidents
Monday morning travelling in and around the
Santamaría (San José) international airport
and the autopista General Cañas (de Alajuela
- San José) will probably mean lots of
delays, as the president of Central America
arrive for a visit with US President, Joe
Biden, who will be in Costa Rica tomorrow
(Sunday) for a visit with Costa Rican
president, Oscar Arias.
The Policía de Tránsito is under
instructions to provide security, which
include road blocks, restricted passage in
some areas, from the Juan Santamaría to Casa
Presidencial in Zapote.
The area of the Circunvalación and the
Rohrmoser boulevard will also be affected.
Mayi Antillón, ministra de Comunicación,
said that Biden will not face the press
following his arrival on Sunday at 4pm, who
will be taken directly to the Marriott
hotel.
The Biden arrival will also mean a temporary
closure of the airport, allowing for air
force two to land. The same occurred on
Thursday when Biden's plane made a refueling
stop.
Biden, accompanied by his wife, will be
stopping in Costa Rica, on his way home from
Chile, and will meet with Arias, and the
presidents of El Salvador, Guatemala and
Panama, Honduras' vice president and the
prime minister of Belize. Notably absent
will be Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega, who will
be represented at the meeting by the
Nicaragua's foreign minister.
