Orotina Tolls
Suspended
The charging of tolls at Orotina on the road
to Caldera was suspended yesterday by the
ministra de Obras Públicas y Transportes,
Karla González.
González said that the area residents were
not properly informed of the starting date
of the toll charges and ruled that the
Autopistas del Sol cannot begin charging the
tolls as it had planned.
The toll charges were to go into effect at
12:01am today (Thursday).
The ministra said that she will convene a
public hearing so that area residents can
learn the details of the road changes and
tolls and voice their opinion.
The ministra did not say when the tolls will
began operating at the Pozón station, which
will see passenger vehicles and motorcycles
pay ¢480 colones and buses ¢950, each way.
Heavy trucks will pay more, depending on the
number of axles.
