Nicaragua Hosts Drug Conference
Managua - Delegations of the
Integration System (SICA) member states are
participating on Wednesday in a ministerial
meeting about struggle against crime that is
being held in this capital.
The Conference on Illegal Drug Trafficking,
Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism
as Challenges to Security and Development in
Central America is dealing with important
aspects of the fight against the organized
crime.
The event is the result of the Expert's
Meeting held in San Jose, Costa Rica from
February 3-4, 2009, where they defined a
strategy for joint work between the UN
Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and
the SICA.
Experts in security and justice, from the
Central American countries, the Dominican
Republic and Mexico are also participating
in the meeting, which will be closed today.
The main objective of this meeting is
designing a Reinforcement Program for the
Central America-Mexico Security Strategy
Action Plan, as well as creation of National
Integrated Programs in Security and Justice,
