Guatemala Extols PL

Guatemala -  In the last 50 years Prensa Latina news agency (PL) has witnessed intense processes in Latin America and placed an active role on its task to inform, Guatemalan human rights leader Alexander Guzman said Tuesday.

In remarks from Guatemala City to congratulate Prensa Latina for its 50th anniversary, on behalf of the Center for Legal Action on Human Rights, Guzman said that "we express our satisfaction and recognition for your arriving to 50 years of contributions, struggles and victories in journalistic work."

He said this brave, professional work allowed PL to "consolidate itself as a true, coherent and committed media organization."

Guzman cited situations faced by Guatemala in which PL was present, fulfilling its duty, like the "struggles to change structures suffocating the population, the genocide against the Maya people, the impoverishment and plundering of natural resources."
