Is Time For The "Veranillo"
This weekend we can expect a break from the
rainy season with the start of the "veranillo
de San Juan", a meteorological phenomenon
that occurs in Central America and South
America.
The "veranillo" traditionally occurs around
the 21st of June and lasts from 7 to 10 days
where the rains diminish, though do not
disappear completely.
The veranillo is believed to take its name
from the San Juan Bautista (St John the
Baptist), which according to the bible was
born six months before Christ.
The veranillo is simply a break in the rainy
season in regions where it is. |
