Turrialba
Cheese Fair, A Cannot Miss!
For cheese lovers Turrialba is the place to
be this weekend, where the Feria del Queso
is being held and runs until July 12. The
fair is an opportunity to sample and buy a
variety of cheese products, all produced
locally.
The fair is sponsored by the Asociación de
Pequeños y Medianos Productores de Santa
Cruz de Turrialba (Asoproasc) and the
Asociación del Fortalecimiento Lácteo del
Distrito de Santa Cruz, Turrialba (Asoprofalac),
now in its eight year.
The difference this year is that the fair is
being held at the Paradero Turístico San
Buenaventura and not in Santa Cruz, as in
the past years.
Visitors from all over the country are
expected to make it to the fair that is
being held during mid-year school vacations.
Carlos Gómez, president of the Asoprofalac,
said "Turrialba has the best cheese in the
country and at a super low price that won't
be found anywhere else".
Some 500 local dairy producers will be
taking part in the fair.
To get there from San Jose, take the route
to Cartago and then the cut off to Turrialba.
The Paradero Turístico San Buenaventura is
across the second entrance to the Catie, on
the south side of the city.
By bus, take the bus from San Jose to
Turrialba (located 200 metres west of the
court building) and then from downtown
Turrialba take the Paradero Turístico bus.
