Panama to Strengthen Investment Regulations

Panama -  The Panamanian government is considering steps to strengthen the legal framework for investments, as part of a strategy to increase the country's levels of competitiveness, according to official sources.

According to a presidential communique issued on Tuesday, the Executive agreed to create a multidisciplinary working group made up of representatives of the public and private sectors to discuss and propose concrete actions to prevent the country from being used for illegal activities of any nature and increase levels of liability and accountability regarding ownership of public limited companies.

The decision stems from the nation's condition as a prestigious international, financial services center and the need to preserve and increase competitiveness and foster foreign direct investment.
