Resounding Cuban Victory
at UN
HAVANA - International
media called on Thursday
overwhelming the Cuban
victory over the United
States at the United
Nations, after 185
countries rejected the
blockade imposed on the
Island.
This is the 17th
consecutive rejection of
Washington at the UN
General Assembly, for
maintaining a severe
economic, trade and
financial siege on the
island.
Headlines of the main
news agencies echoed the
Cuban triumph, after a
bill on the need to end
the US blockade was
passed by majority vote.
Some 185 nations
approved on Wednesday
the resolution presented
by Cuba condemning the
blockade, a record
figure in the last 17
years. The United
States, Israel, and
Palau voted against,
while Micronesia and
Marshall Islands
abstained.
Official dailies from
China, Mexico,
Argentina, Colombia and
most Latin American
nations including
alternative media,
published the important
news on the issue dealt
with at the UN on
Wednesday.
