Liberia Airport Has
New Manger
The Daniel Oduber
airport in Liberia,
Guanacaste, will get an
infusion of some us$35
million dollars by
Coriport S.A. a
consortium of five
companies that will be
responsible for the
expansion and management
of the airport.
Three of the consortium
companies - Brad & Tod
Corporation S.R.L,
Cocobolo Inversiones
S.R.L and Emperador Pez
Espada S.R.L. - are
national, the other two
companies are US company
Houston Airport System (HASDC)
and the Canadian
company, MMM Aviation
Group.
HASDC now also manages
the Juan Santamaría (San
José) international
airport.
The Liberia airport
concession is for a 20
year period, said Karla
González, ministra de
Obras Públicas y
Transportes (MOPT).
Although the Consejo
Técnico de Aviación
Civil (CTAC) - civil
aeronautics - has
approved the contract,
it remains to be
approved by the
ontraloría General de la
República (Comptrollers
Office).
The concession allows
for the construction of
the Liberia airport
expansion that will
total 22.949 square
metres when finished.
The objective of the
expansion is to allow a
flow of 1.500 passengers
during peak hours.
Currently the aiport can
only 900.
Aviación Civil estimates
that 156.000 passengers
will use the airport
during the first quarter
of 2008.
