Safe Driving Week To
Focus On Motos
The rising cost of
gasoline has left many
to trade in their four
wheel vehicle for a two
wheel "moto" or scooter,
which has also resulted
in one of the main
causes of accidents on
the roads today.
And the reason is that
many who have opted for
the moto do so without
the full knowledge of
the dangers and the safe
use of the vehicle and
as such is the target of
Twentieth Safe Driving
Week that is ongoing
this week.
Transit officials will
be focusing on all types
of two wheel vehicles on
the roads to ensure that
the drivers are wearing
helmets and that the
marchamo and vehicular
inspections are current.
The vice-minister of
Transport, Viviana
Martín, said yesterday
that her ministry will
be working together with
the Asociación de
Importadores y Afines (AIMA)
to organize a
promotional fair where
information will on the
safe use of a moto and
to promote good driving
habits will be the
focus.
No date for the fair was
announced, though the
vice-minister did add
that the fair will
include fair will
include courses using
modern technology to
teach those who have
never driven a moto
before on its proper
handling.
In the first four months
of this year there have
been 134 deaths on the
roads.
