 Children's Hospital Christmas Tree Comes Alive
 35.000 light bulbs is what it takes to illuminate the Árbol de Navidad del Hospital Nacional de Niños (Christmas Tree in front of the Children's Hospital). The ligths went on last night as hundreds of children and their parents took part in the traditional annual festivity.

The Hospital Nacional de Niños opened its doors 44 years ago. The enormous tree located in front of the hospital building on Paseo Colon was born from the idea of Marta Montis de Martínez.

For the first 18 years finding the right tree and then moving it to the site got complicated each year as the city grew, so it was finally decided to plant the tree where it still stands today. And for the last 14 years the Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz has been donating the work crews to install the lights and the energy to keep the lights on.
