Emphasizes Advances In
The Control of HIV-AIDS
in Costa Rica
(EFE) — The Pan-American
Health Organization (PAHO)
emphasize the advances
that the country has
shown in control and
prevents of HIV-AIDS in
the last few years.
In addition,
representatives from the
PAHO declare that Costa
Rica is an example,
thanks to social
security because all the
sick have access to
medical attention.
“Costa Rica in one of
the countries that has
the problem controlled
the most, but this does
not mean that we should
not take care of
ourselves because the
numbers indicate that
there is ignorance about
the disease and the way
in which it is
transmitted,” declared
the Costa Rican Minister
of Health, Maria Luisa
Avila.
For example, in 2006,
141 people died with
AIDS, but in 2007 it
reduced to 126 deaths.
Currently in the
country, there are
around 7400 people
registered with the
HIV-AIDS virus.
