Finance Minister Places
In Top 10 For The Region
Costa Rican ministro de
Hacienda (Finance
Minister), Guillermo
Zuñiga qualified for
10th place on the list
of people in charge of
finances in the Latin
America region. The list
was made on the basis of
the consultations that
the American Economy
magazine did with 140
experts in the subject.
The ministers were
evaluated in four
aspects: the
macro-economy stability
of their countries, the
push for pro-competitive
reforms, leadership in
the economy team, and if
they are sending signs
of confidence to the
citizens, businessmen
and investors.
Zuñiga received a score
of 5.9 in the scale of 1
to 10, in which 10 is
the best.
The finance minister
that had the best
evaluation was the
Chilean minister, Andres
Velasco, he was
evaluated as the best by
the 140 experts
consulted by the
American Economy,
followed by the Mexican
Agustin Carstenas that
obtained a 7.4, Peru's
Luis Valdivieso with
7.0, the Brazil's Guido
Mantega with 6.7 and the
Colombia's Oscar Zuluaga
with 6.7.
Those minister that did
not receive good
markings were from
Honduras (3.8),
Nicaragua (3.5), Bolivia
(3.4), Ecuador (3.2) and
Venezuela and Argentina
(2.8).
