Panamanians Urge
Governmentt to Respond
A Panamanian front of
social, union and
political organizations
urged the government on
Thursday to resolve
their demands, which
they are again
proclaiming in a
demonstration at the
presidential palace.
They made a similar
march on August 16 to
present the president
with a list with their
main protests and
demands, but no answer
has been given so far.
The National Front for
the Defense of Economic
and Social Rights
denounces plans for
privatization of water
resources, university
teaching, and social
security.
"The transportation
crisis worsens, the
price of basic family
foods continue rising
uncontrollably, along
with electricity and
phone bills," it
stresses.
It also demands that
privatized companies be
once again run by the
State with a raise in
minimum wage. |
