Nicaragua Supports Cuban
Position at UN General
Assembly
Nicaraguan President
Daniel Ortega on Tuesday
expressed his support of
Cuba in front of the
attacks made against the
island by US President
George W. Bush during
the opening day of the
62nd period of sessions
of the UN General
Assembly in New York.
Ortega, in his speech
before the assembly,
denounced the brutal and
inhuman economic
blockade imposed by
Washington on the Cuban
people for almost five
decades.
The Nicaraguan leader
said that Bush's attacks
against Cuba show a
complete lack of respect
as he is responsible for
the death of thousands
of innocent people in
Iraq and represents a
system that ordered,
among other criminal
actions, the
assassination of Cuban
President Fidel Castro.
Ortega also mentioned
the aggressions of all
types suffered by the
Cuban people and the
unjust incarceration in
the United States of
five Cuban
anti-terrorist fighters
and noted that the US
government represents
the worst tyranny in the
history of humankind.
The Cuban delegation
left the plenary of the
United Nations General
Assembly as a sign of
profound rejection of
the arrogant and
mediocre statement by
President Bush. |
