Inflation Slowing
Down
Consumer prices have
kept on increasing, but
they have done so at a
much slower pace than
before since last April.
In the 12 months that
ended in August, the
Consumer Price Index
grew 8.56 percent, thus
reinforcing a downward
trend that began last
April when the average
for the 12 months that
ended then was 9.76
percent.
Analysts say that the
de-acceleration does not
imply that prices drop
but that they increase
at a lower rate.
However, poor families,
who dedicate the largest
part of their income to
buying food, have found
little respite, because
the prices of food have
increased 15.22 percent,
almost twice the general
average for the period. |
