PAC Has Greatest Amount
of Lawyers Accredited To
Supervise TLC Vote
More than 28.000
attorneys were
accredited by political
parties to supervise the
referendum on the
Tratado de Libre
Comercio (TLC) - free
trade agreement with the
United States -
scheduled to be held
October 7.
According to a report by
the Tribunal Supremo de
Elecciones (TSE) this
number is over 50
thousand due to the many
requests registered this
week.
The accreditation
coordinator of the
Tribunal Carlos Brenes,
pointed out that the
party with most
registered attorneys is
the opposition Partido
Acciòn Ciudadana (PAC),
which is against
ratification of the
treaty.
Meanwhile the
Legislative Assembly is
in turmoil at the
suggestion of some
authorities over the use
of fear to influence the
population.
