Ten Costa Ricans will partake in the follow-up studies for a new drug used to fight AIDS.

These patients developed resistance to the drugs currently available to treat the disease and they need a new option.

“The study takes place in 125 countries and it is designed to obtain further data on the effectiveness and safety of using maraviroc –marketed under the brand Selzentry–, said pharmaceutical giant Pfizer’s Central American medical director, Genaro Cuesta.
